Flint has been associated with transportation since its beginnings. In the early days it was the site of an important river crossing on the Pontiac Trail, then with the logging boom came the need for katydids (log hauling vehicles) which were manufactured in Flint. It is now one of the world's largest manufacturers of cars and from its early carriage business became General Motors.
The Flint Children's Museum is a hands-on learning center featuring over 40 exhibits related to science, technology and the arts. Each visit is a new experience with monthly themes, special programs, and daily activities. The Flint Children's Museum also hosts school field trip, daycare outings, or a scouting trips, in addition to birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers and more.
The Genesee Recreation Area runs along the Flint River. Beaches, bicycle paths, a boat launch, a campground, fishing sites, hiking, and horse trails, picnic areas and a recreational vehicle area are available.
Mott's is a real working farm with farm animals, hay rides, antique farm equipment and tractors. Children can feed the animals while learning about the role of farming.
