Torreon Attractions

Torreón (1137 m (3732 ft); population: 700,000), situated in the far south-west of the state, is Coahuila's largest city, an industrial centre which grew up at the intersection of several major transport routes. Scarcely a hundred years old, the city has little of tourist interest apart from the Museo Regional de la Laguna (Parque Carranza) which houses archaeological finds from the area. The surrounding countryside is exceedingly dry but rendered exceptionally fertile, by artifical irrigation. Wheat and cotton are the principal crops though others are also grown. Processing of minerals and wheat are major industries.
Dunas de Bilbao
These desert sand dunes have been filmed for numerous movies.
Teatro Isauro Martínez
The interior of the theater uses oriental design and themes and was created by artist Salvador Tarazona.
