By car from Jalapa about 110km/68mi via Perote and Altotonga.
The pleasant colonial town of Teziutlán lies along a winding road carved out of the rocks in the middle of wooded mountains. Although Teziutlán itself does not have anything of special interest for the visitor, its position -
conveniently situated as it is on one of the roads linking Mexico City with the coast of the Gulf of Mexico - makes it a good base for excursions into the interesting mountain areas surrounding the town.
Sights
Founded as long ago as 1520, the town still possesses many reminders of the colonial period, which is everywhere visible in its beautiful imposing buildings. The pretty main square and the church of El Carmen deserve mention.
