Driving eastwards from Tijuana on the MEX 2, the town of Tecate (480 m (1575 ft); population 110,000; fiestas: first Sunday in July and December 12th, Día de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe) is reached after about 50km/31mi. It is a border crossing-point as well as an agricultural and industrial centre.
