This picturesque little town (2351 m (7713 ft); population 80,000; fiesta: February 2nd-10th, La Candelaria = Candlemas) is in the west of the state on the border with Durango. The churches of San Francisco (16th c.), Santo Domingo (18th c.; Churrigueresque façade) and San Juan Bautista (18th c.) are worth seeing.
