Mexico City - Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones
The Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones on Calle 20 de Agosto, a few minutes' walk from the General Anaya underground station (Line 20, is housed in the former Franciscan friary of Churubusco. Opened in 1981, the museum boasts a remarkable collection of photos, weapons, pictures, flags and historical documents which provide an interesting if somewhat subjective portrayal of Mexico's wars against invading armies - the struggles for independence between 1810 and 1821 with subsequent Spanish intervention, the war with the United States 1846-48, the French Wars of Intervention of 1838 and 1861-67, and finally the revolutionary period during which U.S. troops invaded Mexico.

The situation of the museum is very relevant to the exhibits, because it was on this very spot in 1847 that the Battle of Churubusco took place, when the Mexicans under General Anaya found themselves outnumbered and were decisively defeated by U.S. troops under General Winfield Scott.
