Medeina - Excavations
The layout of the paved forum (44.60m/146ft by 37.15m/122ft) can be clearly identified; of the portico there remain only a few Corinthian capitals. Between the forum and the Capitol, which lay on its southeast side, extends a paved street. To the northwest are the remains of a triumphal arch (A.D. 128) dedicated to Hadrian. At the other end of the street can be seen a well preserved fountain. To the south is the amphitheater, of which a few arches remain. Farther east is a mausoleum. Northwest of the forum is the Maison de la Pêche, named after a mosaic of a fishing scene which is now in the Bardo National Museum in Tunis. On the other side of the river are two other Roman houses, the Maison des Muses and the Edifice des Asclepeia (much altered in the third and fourth centuries); the mosaics from these houses are also in the Bardo National Museum.
