"Mecklenburg Switzerland", between Teterow and Malchin in central Mecklenburg, is a region of terminal moraines marked by wide variations in height and covered by great expanses of beech forest. Here the rounded hills of the terminal moraines (e.g. Hardtberg, 123 m/404ft; Röthelberg, 97 m/318ft) are juxtaposed with lakes lying only just above sea level (Kummerower See, 32.6sq.km/12.5sq.mi; Malchiner See, 14.3sq.km/5.5sq.mi).
