Mechelen - Paleis van Margareta van Ostenrijk
Opposite the Paleis van Margareta van York extends a complex of buildings with a large arcaded courtyard which was once the Hof van Savoye, the palace of the Stadholder (governor) Margareta of Austria, then of the Cardinal de Granville. From 1616-1794 it was the seat of the Great Council and from 1796 onwards a Palace of Justice.
Around the courtyard the oldest parts were built between 1503 and 1507 by Rombout Kelderman; the part along Keizerstraat was also the work of Kelderman and of Guyot de Beaugrant and is one of the earliest examples of Belgian Renaissance.
