Mechelen - Grote Markt

Near the center of the old town, which was laid out in an almost circular manner with broad boulevards replacing the former surrounding ramparts, and which has in some respects well preserved its medieval appearance, lies the Grote Markt. Here can still be seen some fine gabled houses of the 16th to 18th C. and in the center the statue of Margarete of Austria. In the pavement around the monument the sizes of the dials of Sint-Rombouts Cathedral have been introduced.
