Mauthausen Concentration Camp Description
About 3km/2mi northwest of Mauthausen lies the site of the notorious Nazi concentration camp, the inmates of which were forced to labor in the quarry. The Austrian government has equipped one building as a museum, and the rest of the camp has been converted into a memorial site, with inscribed tablets showing from which countries the prisoners came.

The camp is also known as the Public Warning and Memorial Site. The museum includes 250 panels and display cases provide a horrific look at life during the Holocaust.
