St Notburga Church Description
750m/-0.5mi south of Maurach in the village of Eben stands the sumptuous Baroque pilgrimage church of St Notburga (15th-18th C.), in which the body of St Notburga is buried. Splendid stucco work surrounds the roof paintings which depict episodes from the saint's life; the clothing and scenes are very vividly portrayed. St Notburga, a pious maid from Rattenberg, is the patron saint of servant girls. In the 18th C. J. Singer built a new nave on to the choir of the old church. The high altar is richly decorated in gold and silver.
