Haleakala National Park - Seven Pools of Oheo Ravine (Seven Holy Ponds, Makahika and Waimoku Falls)
Beyond Hana on State Route 31, the Seven Sacred Pools, which are often called the Seven Pools of Oheo Ravine or the Seven Holy Ponds, were in fact simply given this name by a clever hotelier with the aim of making the region more interesting to tourists. From the car park, a 1/2 mile/1km path leads to the pools and along the coast. The water coming down from the hills cascades through the deeply indented lava rock and finally into the sea.
