Martinique, an overseas department of France, offers travelers a unique tropical French experience. The island is 80 km (50 mi) long and 35 km (22 mi) wide, making it one of the largest islands in the Lesser Antilles.

Martinique offers both white and black sand beaches, tropical rain forest, an active volcano, ruins, small fishing villages and farming communities, and Fort-de-France, largest city in the French West Indies.
