Floriana - Argotti Botanical Gardens

In 1805 the British governor appointed a Carmelite friar Malta's first professor of natural history. He assembled the plants in Floriana's Mall and 50 years later they were moved to the site of the present Argotti Gardens, then the preserve of a deceased knight.

The gardens are in two parts: the public and the private, but both are open to the public. There are many hundreds of cacti, succulents and plants, both indigenous and foreign.
