Kittery Attractions

Kittery (pop. 9,500) is home to a number of historic sites, including Fort Foster. The town was a major shipbuilding center and has launched a number of important sea vessels, including the first American submarine and the first ship to fly the Stars and Stripes.

The town also boasts some of the oldest houses in Maine.
Fort McClary State Historic Site
The Fort McClary State Historic Site dates to the early 1700s with modifications in the mid 1800s. The site encompasses 27 acres and offers picnic facilities.

Open from 9 am until dusk daily.
Kittery Historical and Naval Museum
The Kittery Historical and Naval Museum offers exhibits on the cultural and maritime history of Kittery.
