Freeport Attractions
Freeport (pop. 7,800) is a popular summer tourist destination featuring shops and restaurants, beaches, and outdoor recreational opportunities. The town is known as the "Birthplace of Maine" - where legislators signed the paper granting Maine independence from Massachusetts and later statehood. Freeport is home to the sporting goods store LL Bean.

Desert of Maine
The Desert of Maine area in Freeport consists of moving sand dunes which have been growing for the past 100 years. Some dunes reach more than 70 feet.

Mast Landing Sanctuary
The Mast Landing Sanctuary covers 140 acres and is known as the area where the British Navy got their ship masts. Today, the land is home to a variety of animals including porcupine, mink, fisher, deer and moose. Also on the property are the remains of an historic dam and mill.
