Geology Museum
Madison's Geology Museum is of interest to more than just rock hounds. Informative displays provide background on how rocks and minerals are formed. Also of note are the exhibits on fossils. One particular exhibit recreates a Wisconsin cave.

University of Wisconsin Arboretum
For those looking for a quiet space to relax, the University of Wisconsin Arboretum is just the place. Spread out over 1200 acres, the Arboretum includes the oldest and most varied collection of restored ecological communities in the world, including tallgrass prairies, savannas, several forest types and wetlands. It also houses flowering trees, shrubs and a world-famous lilac collection.
