North Country National Scenic Trail

The North Country National Scenic Trail (NST) was authorized by Congress in 1980. The development of the trail is a cooperative effort administered by the National Park Service. The trail is built and maintained by volunteers in the seven states through which it passes: North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. While the trail is still in development when completed the North Country NST will be the longest continuous hiking trail (estimated to be 4600 miles) in the United States. There are 117 miles, of the over 1800 miles of trail currently certified, in northern Wisconsin."
