Hay House Description
The Hay House in Macon is a 16,000 square foot Italian Renaissance Revival style mansion that was completed in 1859. Originally called "Palace of the South", the home was built by William Butler Johnston following his marriage to Anne Clark Tracy. The idea for this home was inspired by their travels through Europe on their honeymoon.

In 1926 the house was sold to Parks Lee Hay, who redecorated the home in the latest 20th century fashion.

The mansion is now a National Historic Landmark.
