Baia da Praia Grande

This bay, a favorite subject with artists from all over the world in the 19th century, lies between the Ponte Macau-Taipa, a high bridge, and the promontory to the west. Studded with picturesque old buildings, it transports the spectator back to the 19th century. The bay is due to be completely replanned by the year 2000 in order to re-establish its role as a popular seafront promenade.
