Wiltz (pop. 4,000) is a commercial and tourist town consisting of two parts: the upper and lower towns. The upper town has a castle of the former counts of Wiltz that stands high on a plateau and its slopes. The lower town extends in a wide valley to both banks of the Wiltz river.
In the decanal church the tombstones recall the history of the feudal counts of Wiltz. The interior of the church is an architectural masterpiece.
The Renaissance altar in the upper town parish church is also of significance.
A walk through the town leads along stone crosses from the times of the plague and of the feudal justice (cross of justice from 1502).
The memory of the Second World War is kept alive with a national monument to the general strike of 1942, the Battle of the Bulge Museum and the fatima Calvary.
The cheerfulness of Wiltz is demonstrated in the Broom Festival with flower corso and flea market. Wiltz's past is recalled in the Folklore Museum in the former castle stables.
Every year in July the open-air theater festival takes place in the amphitheater in the castle yard.
Wiltz has an outdoor swimming pool and is an international meeting place for scouts, with 10 chalets and 14 campgrounds.
