Luxembourg Moselle Attractions

The Moselle is a region in the eastern part of the Grand Duchy. It features slopes flanking the Moselle river. The picturesque villages tucked along the banks of the Moselle recall ancient charm and offer varied cuisine produced from locally-grown products. As a result of the Roman presence here there are many archeological remains.
Mertert, Luxembourg
Mertert lies well-sheltered and quiet on the banks of the Moselle river, within easy reach of the gorges of the Syr. It is surrounded by forests and there is a river port in Mertert, as well as the remains of a Gallo-Roman cemetery in the forest "Weiler" on the way to Lellig. Mertert hosts a festival in June and July.
Remerschen, Luxembourg
Remerschen, Schengen and Wintrange are all well-known centers in the Grand Duchy with some nice views and picnic spots.

There is a recreation area around Remerschen with several lakes, which makes water sports very popular here.

At Schengen, where the Agreement of Schengen was signed, there is a southern gate to a 13th C. tower.

From the Stromberg there is a unique view of the Moselle canal. A bridge links Schengen to the German bank of the Moselle. Wintrange has a castle from 1610.
