Larochette Attractions
Larochette is a quaint old market town that lies in a narrow rocky valley, surrounded by woods. The town is dominated by two old castles (partially rebuilt) which stand on a crag high above the valley of the White Ernz. In the town are a medieval square, a museum of industry (free admission; open year round), and some historic monuments. The town is a commercial and tourist center and its cultural and conference center is housed in a former textile factory. Larochette has many old streets and in the neo-Roman church can be found some Art Nouveau frescoes. Sporting opportunities in the town include: ULM flying, ballooning and swimming in the all-weather pool. Walks through the woods and countryside lead to various viewpoints; most notable is the Manzenbach trail leading to the castle of Meysembourg and Nommerlayen, with the remains of a Roman camp at Aaalburg.
