Esch-sur-Alzette Attractions

 
With 25,000 inhabitants, Esch-sur-Alzette is the second-largest city in the Grand Duchy. It is a cosmopolitan city with a lively past and is well known for its architecture, its large shopping facilities and its rocky surroundings. It is situated near the French border, in the south of the Grand Duchy, and is the capital of iron and steel. The history of the town and surroundings can be traced back more than 5,000 years and about 37% of its citizens are foreigners.

There are many cultural attractions in Esch-sur-Alzette: the National Museum of the Resistance, the local and airport museums, a tropical aquarium at the Brill-school, metallurgical factories, the Berwart tower, monuments, an architectural walk in the city center, the Belvédère parks, St Joseph's church, the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, the city hall, local theater, art galleries, libraries and a music conservatory.

The recreation center at Galgenberg has a beautiful park, marked walking trails, playgrounds and an animal park, as well as camping facilities and several sports facilities. There is an open-air swimming pool in the town.

Esch-sur-Alzette is a unique commercial center with varied shops and industrial establishments.

In the city there are numerous entertainment possibilities: popular fetes, discos, hotels, and restaurants.
