Fallingbostel

5km/3mi west of Fallingbostel in the Lüneburg Heath is Walsrode, on the northern outskirts of which is a large Bird Park (22 hectares/54 acres), with 6,000 birds from every continent and climatic zone and a Birdcage Museum.

Southeast of Fallingbostel in the Lüneburg Heath, in a large military training area (access permitted only on the first and third weekends in the month), are the "Seven Stone Houses", a group of megalithic chamber tombs (now only five in number), the largest of which has a capstone measuring 5 m/16ft by 4.2 m/14ft supported on seven uprights.
