Lugano - Municipal Park / Congress Center

(Local Name: Parco Civico) East of Centro Maghetti in Lugano is the Piazza Indipendencia, on the south side of which is the Kursaal. The extensive and beautiful Parco Civico (Municipal Park) with old trees and sub-tropical plants is the site of the Palazzo dei Congressi (convention facility; 1965-1975 by Rolf Otto) and the Villa Ciani.

From the Piazza della Riforma the Via Pretoria runs north into Viale Stefano Franscini. On the left-hand side stands the Villa Saroli and new building (Banca del Gottardo) by Mario Botta.
