Town Church Description
(Local Name: Stadtkirche) Directly south of Ludwigslust's Schloss, forming a striking contrast to the low half-timbered buildings on either side of it, stands the Town Church (1765-70), preceded by a portico with six monumental columns. It contains a colossal painting of the "Adoration of the Shepherds" (1772-1803). Facing the altar is the ducal box, with luxuriant decoration (partly in papier-mâché). Two hundred m/220yd east of the church are two pylon-like bell-towers (1791-92).
