Sursee
At the north end of Sempacher See, from which the river Suhre flows north, is the tranquil little country town of Sursee (507 m/1,663ft; pop. 5,000) which has a Baroque parish church (1641), a late Gothic town hall (1546) and 18th C. burghers' houses. Neat rows of houses and two towers surround the moated Mühlplatz (mill square). The old Roman road along the lake heading south is of interest to walkers.
