18 km (11 mi.) north of Ampenan, in an area where only a few years ago the local children played undisturbed on the beach, is the new tourist center of Senggigi Beach, with a number of reasonable hotels, restaurants and bars. The only attractions are the bathing and the various activities on the beach, where the holidaymakers are assailed, particularly in the evening, by hawkers selling refreshments and a variety of wares.
