Hirschegg

Hirschegg (1,124m/3,688ft) is a long straggling village which is a popular base for walkers and skiers. This is where a stag, "Hirsch" in German", is said to have fought a bear; the "battlefield", a hill above the Leidtobel, is now the site of Hirschegg parish church. The "Walserhaus" center, built in rustic style, is where the tourists meet (party room); a rural theater company gives performances and there are courses in various hobbies, including pottery. A chairlift from Hirschegg ascends the Heuberg (upper station 1,373m/4,505ft).
