Benton - Gann Museum of Saline County
The Gann Building was donated to the city of Benton by Dr. Dewell Gann who asked that it be used as a library. The museum houses a collection of antiques and memorabilia from the area.
The Gann Museum was constructed of bauxite and is the only known structure of its kind in the world made of this material. The bauxite was dug from a nearby farm, hand-sawed into blocks, and allowed to harden. The structure originally housed the medical office of Dr. Gann and it was erected by patients who could not afford to pay the doctor.
