Benton - Gann Museum of Saline County

The Gann Museum is housed in a building that was constructed of bauxite and is the only known structure of its kind in the world made of this material. The bauxite was dug from a nearby farm, hand-sawed into blocks, and allowed to harden. It was donated to the city of Benton by Dr. Dewell Gann who asked that it be used as a library. The structure originally housed the medical office of Dr. Gann and it was erected by patients who could not afford to pay the doctor. The museum houses a collection of antiques and memorabilia from the area.
