Jenolan Caves

The Jenolan Caves are the best-known karstic caves in Australia. The caves with their glittering stalactites and stalagmites in the form of columns and waterfalls were first explored in 1866 and are open to visitors. A system of footpaths leads to the eight caves which can be entered; parts of the complex are still unexplored.

Tips: The caves are best reached from Hartley or from South Bowenfels on the Great Western Highway.
