Lima - Italian Art Museum

(Local Name: Museo de Arte Italiano) As the name suggests, the Museo de Arte Italiano (Italian Art Museum) houses a collection of Italian art. Although it may seem strange that Lima would have a museum dedicate to Italian art, the collection was given to Peru by Italy to commemorate Peru's 100th anniversary of independence. The museum is mostly comprised of 20th century Italian art, many of which are reproductions, but also includes contemporary Peruvian works which it obtained from the Instituto de Arte Contemporaneo.

The structure which houses the Museo de Arte Italiano is a unique looking neoclassical building. If you are going to the Parque de la Cultura, the museum is only a short distance to the north.
