Lillehammer - Maihaugen Open-Air Museum
|
|
Lillehammer's principal tourist attraction is the open-air museum in Malhaugen Park, on the southeastern outskirts of the town. Founded by a local dentist, Anders Sandvig (1862-1950), in 1887, it consists of more than 100 old buildings, all re-erected here in their original form and furnished with old domestic equipment and implements. Among them are 18th century farmhouses from the heyday of peasant culture and various craftsmen's workshops, housed in a large separate building.
