(Local Name: Rijksmuseum van Geologie en Mineralogie) At Hooglandse Kerkgracht 17 the National Museum of Geology and Mineralogy (Rijksmuseum van Geologie en Mineralogie) has a rich collection of material, some of it from the former Dutch colonies. The three-gabled building, with a beautiful inner courtyard, was originally occupied by the Vrouwengasthuis (Women's Hospice) and from 1583 by the Poorhouse and Orphanage (Armen-, Wees- en Kinderhuis).
