Leyden - Boerhaave Rooms

(Local Name: Boerhaave Zalen) On the right of Vrouwenkerkstraat are the Boerhaave Zalen (Boerhaave Rooms), originally a monastery built at the end of the 16th century, which later became a hospital for plague victims and the mentally ill. Since the 18th century physician Boerhaave taught here, it is regarded as Leiden's first university teaching hospital.
