Description
The very beautiful Bradgate Park (6mi/10km northwest of Leicester) contains the ruins of the mansion in which Lady Jane Gray (1537-1553), the "nine days queen" was born, whom Queen Mary Tudor had executed. In the 12th century this moor and woodland was a hunting reserve and it has retained much of its original character. It is a popular place for the people of Leicester to visit.
