Lebanon - Stoy Museum and Hauck Memorial Library

The Stoy Museum, built in 1773, has reconstructed rooms such as a drugstore, doctor's office, one-room schoolhouse, toy shop and a general store. Throughout the museum, visitors find examples of Pennsylvania German craftsmanship in such items as furniture, quilting and weaving, fraktur, and redware.

The front part of the building was used as the county courthouse, where James Buchanan, the 15th U.S. president, practiced law as a young attorney.

The building which contains the Stoy Museum is a half a city block long, with three floors.

The Hauck Memorial Archive is a repository for Lebanon County Genealogy and History, which includes: church records, cemetery records, census records, newspapers, maps, family histories, city directories, photographs, documents, postcards, and more. The library is staffed with a full-time Librarian and daily volunteers who assist patrons with family tree or other research.
