La Salle - Matthiessen State Park

Matthiessen State Park was named for the late Frederick William Matthiessen, a prominent industrialist and philanthropist from LaSalle. He operated the privately owned park for many years and after Matthiessen's death, the park was donated to the Department of Conservation. There is an abundance of plant and animal life, picnicking opportunities and hiking trails.
