Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve Reserva De la Biosfera De Río Plátano

This massive swath of jungle designated a world heritage site is one of the few remains of a tropical rainforest in Central America and contains abundant plant and wildlife.

In its mountainous landscape sloping down to the Caribbean over 2,000 indigenous people of the Miskito, Pech tribes plus the Garífuna continue to live their traditional lifestyle.
