Komotini (Komotene) Archeological Museum Description
The Komotiní Archeological Museum (Odós N. Zoidou), opened in 1976, displays in topographical order finds from all over Thrace from the fourth millennium B.C. onwards. Particularly notable items are a Klazomenian sarcophagus from Abdera (found in 1975), sculpture of the sixth-fourth centuries B.C. (including a small marble lion), gold jewellery from Orestis, bronzes from Didymotikho and a golden head of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, also from Didymotikho.
