Kokkola - Southern Surroundings

The area south of Kokkola abounds in historical associations, not only for Finland but for the kingdom of Finland and Sweden as a whole, which was torn apart by Tsar Alexander I's victorious campaign in 1808-09.

The best route south is the road via Öja and Risöhäll, which runs over islands and round inlets of the sea, with fine views of the Gulf of Bothnia.
