Klatovy Pharmacy / At the White Unicorn

(Local Name: U Bileho jednorozce) One of the highlights of Klatovy is the Baroque Pharmacy "At the White Unicorn" (U Bileho jednorozce. This exhibition explores the history of pharmacy from the 18th to the 20th Centuries. "At the White Unicorn" was originally a Jesuit run institution taken over by a private citizen in Klatovy following the dissolution of the order in 1773. Remarkably, the owner had the foresight to keep the old equipment and associated items. Today the Pharmacy interior is furnished with well preserved equipment used in the 18th Century and set up like an old apothecary. Due to its unique historical importance the Klatovy Pharmacy, "At the White Unicorn", is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
