King's Lynn - Sandringham House

 
Sandringham House (8mi/13km from King's Lynn) is a mansion belonging to the queen. The neo-Elizabethan house (1867-1870) can be visited when the royal family are not in residence. The extensive park has magnificent old trees; the azaleas and rhododendrons are particularly attractive when in flower from May to the end of June. The small church has a silver altar and many royal mementos.

Queen Alexandra, George V and George VI died at Sandringham. The museum, expanded in 1984, contains hunting trophies and vintage cars belonging to the royal family, including a Daimler Tonau (1900) which belonged to Edward VII and a Daimler Brougham (1928) of Queen Mary's.
