Description
The Kilauea Lighthouse, originally built in 1913, now serves as a weather station. However, it's main attraction are the large colonies of nesting seabirds which attract bird watchers and nature lovers alike. Wedge-tailed Shearwaters, Great Frigate birds, Red-tailed tropic birds are among the species which can be easily watched and photographed here.

The U.S. Wildlife Service runs an informative interpretation center on the site.

The local is a good one to watch waves breaking on the rocks below.
