Kendu Bay is a small village with a deep volcanic lake, Simbi Lake. It is a popular destination for birdwatchers and a footpath allows visitors to walk around the circular lake. There is a local myth about this crater lake. As it goes, an old lady was denied food and lodging by the residents of a village and she made the rain came down so hard that the village was swamped to become Simbi Lake.
Homa Bay is small busy town south of Kendu Bay. Homa Bay is the southern most ferry stop and an outlet point for agricultural goods headed for Kisumu. Near the town is volcano shaped Mount Homa.
