Kapruner Tal

The beautiful Kesselstrasse (maximum gradient 12%; 1 in 8) along the right bank of the Kapruner Ache, passes the works village and the large Kaprun-Hauptstufe power station, which harnesses the water power of the extensive glacier areas of the Hohe Tauern. On the mountainside can be seen the massive pipes bringing the water down under pressure from the Maiskogel. The road then winds its way up the slopes of the Bürgkogel (950m/3,117ft). which blocks the valley.
