Fortress Mountain
Fortress Mountain is a popular ski resort, most frequented by locals rather than tourists who usually head for Lake Louise or Banff to find skiing. Tucked back in Kananaskis Country, Fortress Mountain is located near the northern edge of Peterlougheed Provincial Park.
Most of the runs are intermediate level, with a smaller percentage of beginner and advanced runs. It is considered a good family hill. Visitors will find all the regular facilities here, along with a ski school.
The Alberta Luge Association is using Fortress Mountain to train for the 2010 winter Olympics in Whistler. For more information on natural Luge contact the hill.
