Kahua Ranch

Half way between Waimea and Kapaau on road 250, which passes through the Kohala Mountains, stands the Kahua cattle farm, second in importance to the Parker Ranch. The owner of this ranch has expanded his business by means of alternative energy supplies, using the wind to generate electricity. The steel wind wheels at first appear somewhat alien to the Hawaiian landscape but they are nevertheless a means of achieving environmentally-friendly energy.
